The focus is on electricity and magnetism, including electric fields, magnetic fields, electromagnetic forces, conductors and dielectrics, electromagnetic waves, and the nature of light.
Am electroscope is an early scientific instrument that is used to detect the presence and magnitude of electric charge on a body. It was the first electrical measuring instrument. The first electroscope, a pivoted needle called the versorium, was invented by British physicianWilliam Gilbert around 1600. The pith-ball electroscope and the gold-leaf electroscope are two classical types of electroscope that are still used in physics education to demonstrate the principles of electrostatics. A type of electroscope is also used in the quartz fiber radiation dosimeter. Electroscopes were used by the Austrian scientist Victor Hess in the discovery of cosmic rays.
The kit is used for demonstrating a number of electrostatics experiments. It consists of various elements and a gold leaf electroscope with a transparent front window and ground glass rear window.
To be used with Van de graff generator for demonstrating various electrostatics experiments. It consists of set of nine objects:-
1. Pointed Wheel
2. Needle on 4mm plug
3. Perspex Jar on 4mm plug with metal coated pith balls
4. Thread Brush with 4mm plug
5. Point Discharge with 4mm plug
6. Perspex Pillar with suspended metalized sphere on 4mm plug
7. Reel of nylon thread
8. Faraday’s Pail with 4mm plug
9. Neon lamp
To do all electrostatic experiments, especially where continuous production of a high voltage is required. It consists of an Aluminium dome dia. 175mm approx. and a separate discharging Aluminium sphere dia. 75mm approx. Charge belt is made of a special rubber for better performance & long life. It can generate up to spark length 60mm approx. 4mm sockets in dome and base are provided.
Mounted on a wooden base. The discharge sphere is supported on a pivoted arm with a handle, and is attached to the top of the driving - wheel pillar. Diameter of Aluminium dome & discharger are 175 & 75mm approx respectively. Suitable for 4mm plug socket.
- An interesting fun way to teach electrostatics.
- Adjustment of belt.
- Very good set up of accessories.
- Spark length 50-80mm under favorable ambient condition.
An economy model of Wimshurst machine for generating high DC voltage. It consists of transparent discs which can be rotated using hand operated crank and has two high voltage capacitors (Leyden Jars).
