CENTRIPETAL FORCE AND MOMENT OF INERTIA
DescriptionExp-1 To measure the force required under static conditions to displace the mass the same distance against the pull of the spring.
Exp-2 To calculate the moment of inertia.
A hanging mass and a counter-balance are attached to a horizontal bar mounted a top a vertical shaft about 45cm high, and the vertical shaft ties the suspended mass with a horizontal spring.
By knowing the mass, the speed of rotation and the radius, the centripetal force can be calculated. A photogate sensor is used for measuring rotation time during experiment.
