FOCAL LENGTH OF A COMBINATION OF LENSES USING NODAL SLIDE ASSEMBLY
Exp-1 To find out focal length of a combination of lenses using nodal slide assembly.
Experimental set-up has been designed specifically for determination of focal length of a combination of two convergent lenses using Nodal Slide Assembly. The set-up consists of Nodal Slide Assembly, Light source, slit, convex lenses, object screen and base support. The set up is complete in all respect and requires no other accessories. Practical experience on this set up carries great educative value for Science and Engineering Students.
This setup helps students to understand the basic property of lens like focal length, focus point, nodal point, principal axis, centre of curvature etc.
The focal length (F) of a combination of two convergent lenses using Nodal Slide Assembly is given by:
1/ F =1/ f1 + 1 / f2- d / f1 f2
where, f1, and f2 are the focal length of lens-1 and lens-2 respectively and d refers to the distance between the two lenses.
